Taskon
Task management web app
My role: User Research / UX Designer / UI Designer.
Deliverables: High-Fidelity Prototype for Usability test.
Project timeline: 2025
Objective
This project aims to create an MVP (Minimum Viable
Product) for task management web app. Our goal is
to enhance onboarding, streamline task organization,
and improve visual reporting features, ensuring a seamless
and satisfying experience for users managing their tasks
and projects.
The Problem
Users face difficulties with the existing task management
platform, which is overly complex. The onboarding process
is unclear, navigation is unintuitive, and visual reporting
features fail to communicate progress effectively.
The Solution
Design a modern dashboard to provide a user-centric and intuitive
platform that simplifies task management, combining insights
from user interviews, benchmarking, and a decision matrix to
identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Design Process
The design process followed a user-centered approach,
starting from analyzing our briefing to high-fidelity
prototype for the usability test. This iterative process
ensured a clean and intuitive solution aligned with
the project goals.
Personas
Based on user feedback from the interviews, we created
our personas to clarify the problem statement.
User Journey Map
We created the User Journey Map to outline the key
phases of user experiences while interacting with the
task management software.
Decision Matrix
Using the user journey map insights, we evaluated
the features based on key criteria. Each feature is rated
on a scale of 1-5 (1 = Low, 5 = High). The total score helps
prioritize features for implementation.
Key features
Based on the decision matrix total score Simplified Signup,
Interactive Onboarding, Dashboard Navigation, Task Creation
Shortcut and Reporting Visuals Represent our high-priority or
key features.
Signup and Onboarding
We designed a streamlined signup process by adding an
email only to drive users straight to the onboarding setup
allowing users to create their first project from the template
or skip to the dashboard and create a project from scratch.
Task metric: The onboarding process takes up to 5 minutes.
Dashboard navigation
We designed our main dashboard in such a way
that allows the users to navigate intuitively throughout
the tab navigation.
I used consolidated task management
apps (Jira, Asana) as the reference for our visuals.
This ensures that the experience using our MVP
(Minimum Viable Product) does not deviate from
the market standard.
Task creation shortcut
We highlighted task creation with a big task
create button, and streamlined task creation in
4 steps.
Access to the reports
We designed a visually appealing reports tab
allowing users to quickly find reports and download
them.
Other tabs and features
Filters
Users can filter tasks by completion status,
assigned tasks, timeline, created by teammates,
and by priority.
Timeline tabs and Workflow tabs
We designed a visually appealing timeline and workflow tabs
allowing users to quickly track tasks by the timeline and Kan
Ban board. and download them.
The result and learnings
This project reinforced the importance of simplicity,
usability, and user feedback in task management design.
The Taskon project highlighted key insights:
- Improved Onboarding: Simplifying the onboarding process ensures quick user adoption.
- Streamlined Navigation: Clear navigation enhances task accessibility and workflow efficiency.
- Impactful Visuals: Intuitive reporting improves task tracking and decision-making.
- User-Centric Flexibility: Customizable views boost satisfaction and adaptability.
- Iterative Design: Continuous testing resolves pain points and refines the user experience.
Next exploration
We have several opportunities for further iterations and optimizations:
- Advanced Customization: Allow users to personalize their dashboards, task priorities, and notifications for a more tailored experience.
- AI-Powered Suggestions: Implement AI-driven task recommendations and deadline predictions based on user behavior.
- Collaboration Tools: Add team collaboration features, like shared task boards and in-app messaging.
- Gamification: Introduce rewards or progress tracking to boost engagement and task completion rates.
- Mobile Optimization: Enhance the mobile experience for seamless task management on the go.
